ALRs Post 283
Stay up don't slide
The beginning of the American Legion Riders
In the fall of 1993 a guy named Chuck Dare from Post 396 in Garden City Michigan came up with the idea to start a motorcycle association that would operate within the American Legion. It was to be a family oriented group. With a lot of work from Chuck, this is how the riders started. Today there are groups of American Legion Riders throughout the country.
This is just a small list of things the American Legion Riders do. Participation in the annual POW/MIA Rally, sponsoring or participating in local charity events, raising money for such organizations as local VA Hospitals , Battered Woman and Childrens Center, Varied Children Youth programs, School for the Blind, Veterans Relief, needy familys and many others, sponsoring or participating in motorcycle run's to benefit numerous charities, Participation in memorial and cummunity parades. The American Legion Riders is all about helping others and having fun doing it.
